The Colliery School

Little is known about the Colliery School at Bank Top. It existed for only twelve years from 1874 and its location is uncertain. The building was financed by Joseph Love, then owner of the the colliery. In 1875, the year after the school opened, the colliery output slowed and the workforce was reduced. The school closed when the mine was finally abandoned in 1886.
